
Information & Participation Instructions

Starting Point: Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) – Esplanade. Runners will be placed in different starting blocks. Admission to the blocks will close at 23:45 on Tuesday, December 31.
Finishing Point: The same as the starting point.
Participation Fee: To participate in the SNF Run, runners pay €5, which is donated in full to the selected nonprofit organization. Runners can contribute to the charitable mission of the race by donating more than the €5 participation fee if they wish.
Eligibility: People 10 and older are eligible to participate in the 3-kilometer race. Minors are eligible upon receipt of consent from a parent or guardian. All people with disabilities and their companions are eligible; organizers can place them in the first block at the start if they wish.
Race Package: All registered participants will be given an official race number (a bib with their block number printed on it), a clear running bag, and an SNF Run long-sleeve shirt.
Electronic Timing: Though the SNF Run is not competitive in nature, official times will be kept for the route.
Arrival of Runners: Runners must be present at the starting point at least 45 minutes before the scheduled start time.
Runners with a bib will be admitted to the area of the blocks at 23:00. Runners must be set at the starting block 20 minutes before the start (i.e. by 23:45).
For a safe and smooth race, runners are kindly requested to observe the starting block indicated on their bib.
Route: The race will start at the Esplanade across from the SNFCC Agora. Runners will head toward the waterfront, turn right at «Platia Nerou» to the lighthouse on the Kallithea pier. The route then turns around and returns to the SNFCC via the Esplanade, where runners will cross the finish line, at the same point where they started.
Race Package Pick-Up
The race package must be picked up in person at the Event Pavilion located in the forecourt of the SNFCC Visitors Center at the Esplanade.
Runners will be able to pick up their race packages from December 28 to December 30, 2024.
• Saturday, December 28, from 15:00 to 21:00
• Sunday, December 29, from 15:00 to 21:00
• Monday, December 30, from 15:00 to 21:00
To ensure a quick and smooth experience for our runners, we ask runners to be ready to show the email with their bib number in either printed or electronic form when they arrive.
A bib number is required for entry to the start of the race on December 31. Without this number, entry to the start of the race will not be permitted.
Runners will not be able to pick up their race package on the day of the race (December 31 – January 1).
Please pick up your race package early in order to receive your desired size for the event shirt; if your size is not available, you will receive the next closest size.
Please be prepared to provide the email with your bib number in either printed or electronic form.
Delivery / Collection of Personal Items
If you wish to check any personal items prior to the race, please bring those items in the SNF Run official clear bag provided during your bib/materials pick up.
Please attach the sticker provided with your bib number to the bag and give it to bag check, located at the Event Pavilion at the Esplanade, by 23:40.
Please note that only SNF Run clear bags will be accepted. No other bags will be allowed at the start.
You may retrieve the bag with your personal belongings after crossing the finish line by showing your race bib number.
Time Limit for Completing the Race
The race ends at 00:40 taking into account any delays in start time. After 00:40, participants may continue under their own responsibility.
Participation / Bib Number
The bib number of each runner must always be visible during entry and in the blocks, along the entire route, and at the finish at the SNFCC. Amenities will only be provided to runners clearly bearing their bib number.
Medical Services
The race will include full medical support for first aid from the First Orthopaedic Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). All runners participate at their own risk, in accordance with the Terms of Participation. Runners are advised to undergo medical examinations before the race to confirm they are healthy enough to participate.
Tips and more Information
• Consult your doctor if you have a health problem.
• Demonstrate sportsmanship at all times.
• Respect and follow organizers’ instructions.
• Do not forget to warm up before you start your race.
• Eat a meal no sooner than two hours before the race.
• Stay well hydrated before and during the race.
• Get to the starting line on time.
• Follow your own rhythm, and do not get carried away by the rhythm of other runners.
• Do not throw bottles or other garbage at the starting point, along the route, or at the finish line—use the bins provided.
• Avoid using offensive language.
• Pets are not allowed to run with the runners.
• You can run or walk with your child in a stroller.
• The use of headphones is not allowed during the race.
• Transportation to and from the SNFCC is not provided. Runners must plan in advance to secure their own means of transportation or use public transport.
• Friends, relatives, and loved ones are not permitted to enter the course with the runners. Respecting this rule permits all athletes to appreciate and celebrate their accomplishment without worrying about or putting other athletes, volunteers, organizers, or spectators at risk.
Safety Measures
The safety of all participants and spectators is our highest priority. To facilitate this, we are fortunate to work in close collaboration with the Hellenic Police, the Traffic Police, EKAV, the Fire Department, and the 1st Orthopaedic Surgery Department at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Prohibited Items
In order to ensure safety for all, please read and abide by the following list of prohibited items. The list applies to all athletic events at the SNFCC. Preemptive visual baggage checks may be performed.

• Possession and use of illegal objects and/or substances is prohibited, including, but not limited to: weapons, sharp objects, fireworks, drugs, etc.
• Glass containers are forbidden.
• No bags other than the SNF Run clear bags are allowed.
• Costumes that cover the face and any bulky outfits extending beyond the perimeter of the body are not allowed.
• Visitors are required to comply with the directions of the organizers and security personnel.
